Refugees walk in the night after crossing the border between Serbia and Croatia to make their way to the makeshift camp near Tovarnik train station, Croatia.

The closure by Hungary of its boarder with Serbia has led to Tovarnik becoming the new hotspot for refugees on their way to western and northern Europe.

During the 1990’s Yugoslav war, the region was engulfed in fierce battles and the arena of massacres, which led to the displacement of tens of thousand of people.
